Deirdre McQuillan is fashion editor of The Irish Times, a freelance feature writer and author of several food and fashion books including a history of the Aran sweater.

A recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Institute of Designers of Ireland in 2010, she has been writing about fashion and design since the 1980s and has covered London and Paris fashion weeks twice yearly for The Irish Times for nearly two decades.

She is also an award-winning travel journalist who has covered assignments all over Africa and Europe on fashion and textile related subjects as well as contributing to many international magazines, most recently Fondata.
