Making In 2020: Place
In 2020, despite the disruptions of the moment, Making In aimed to continue and extend the conversation around art and design, it’s role in place-making, and the tremendous value that creative makers bring to society.
This edition of the series looked at the relationship making has to place. It was presented online where the dialogues with makers was accompanied by footage of these creatives in their own working environments.

Making In was established to share the stories of making in art, architecture, design and craft; to share the passion, commitment and mastery of so many, which is lived through their work. In 2020, despite the disruptions of the moment, Making In aimed to continue and extend the conversation around art and design, it’s role in place-making, and the tremendous value that creative makers bring to society.
This online edition of the series focused on the relationship making has to place; to resources, environment, sustainability, culture and heritage from the mastery of an object to the future of the built environment and the future aspirations of place makers. Our dialogues with makers were accompanied by footage of these creatives, filmed in their own working environments; their own place.

In 2020, Making In expanded beyond being an event; introducing the idea of creating a movement that supports a making culture.
Our event partner for the online seminar was IPUT Real Estate Dublin. Chief Executive, Niall Gaffney, who participated in the conversation, discussed IPUT’s thought leadership project about the future of the workplace and our sense of place in today’s world.
