Jörg J. Berchtold

Jörg J. Berchtold is an architect and founder of Berchtold Projekte. He studied architecture at the University of Stuttgart and also studied Interior Architecture and Design at ABK Akademie der Bildenden Künste, Stuttgart, Weissenhof Institut with Professor Arno Votteler.

In 1998 he established Berchtold Projekte, which focuses on the development of technical elements with focus on glazing including furniture. In 2006 he created 12 art-objects for the famous German poet and artist Hans-Magnus Enzensberger as part of his cycle ‘WortSpielZeug’. Since 2006 he has collaborated with Joseph Walsh studio. In 2002 he became a member of the Chamber of Architects of Baden-Wuerttemberg Germany, which focuses on customised private residences.

From 2009-2014, he developed the ‘Snail Shell House’, which featured curved geometry in concrete, with prefabricated timber roof-construction. In 2013 he was invited to become Member of the Deutscher Werkbund and in 2016 a member of the curatorial team of the Werkbund Exibition ‘Stuttgart – Stadtraum in Bewegung’.
